# Disconnect

The `<Disconnect>` verb is a OneML extension with no TwiML equivalent. It ends OneML control of the call without hanging up: Signals stops running your document and hands the call back to the voice platform's own call flow.

A Programmable Voice call has no call flow of yours to return to. Use [`<Hangup>`](/programmable-voice/oneml/hangup) to end a call, and `<Dial>` or `<Redirect>` to move it elsewhere. Do not rely on `<Disconnect>` to keep a caller connected.

## Attributes

`<Disconnect>` accepts no attributes.

## Nesting

`<Disconnect>` is a self-closing element with no text content and no nested verbs. Verbs after `<Disconnect>` in the same document do not run, because control has already left the document.
