# Redirect

The `<Redirect>` verb hands control of the call to a new OneML document, fetched from the URL you give. Verbs after `<Redirect>` in the current document do not run.

## Attributes

| Name | Type | Default | Description |
|------|------|---------|-------------|
| `method` | string | `POST` | HTTP method used to fetch the next document. `GET` or `POST`. |

## Nesting

`<Redirect>` contains the URL of the next document as text content, either absolute or relative to the current document. It takes no nested verbs.

:::caution
More than 10 consecutive redirects without new caller input end the call with an error. A redirect that follows caller input, such as the request a [`<Gather>`](/programmable-voice/oneml/gather) makes after collecting digits, resets the count.

## Examples

Redirecting to an absolute URL:

```xml
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<Response>
  <Say>One moment while we transfer your call.</Say>
  <Redirect>https://voice.example.com/oneml/transfer</Redirect>
</Response>
```

Redirecting to a relative path with `GET`:

```xml
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<Response>
  <Redirect method="GET">/oneml/next-step</Redirect>
</Response>
```
